The Counselling Finder was designed by Family Service Ontario as a collaboration tool between us and our member agencies to help the public find counselling services online. Our agencies employ registered professionals who practice psychotherapy and have been providing services for over 50 years.
FSO provides support and resources to agencies so Ontarians have responsive community-based resources that foster healthy relationships and resilient families. With in-person gatherings greatly impacted by COVID-19, the Counselling Finder was created to help reduce barriers to access and increase program visibility across Ontario. The Counselling Finder provides a platform for agencies to promote their service availability and offer counselling, increasing service access for vulnerable families and communities throughout the province.
This program is funded through the government of Canada through the Canada Healthy Communities Initiatives. With their support, we've created a program that is responsive, inclusive and flexible to the needs of our communities and clients.
Each counsellor takes a client-centred and holistic approach.
Services include quick access counselling, psychotherapy and psychoeducation.
Counselling is offered to individuals, couples and families.
Our counsellors are committed to providing service that is inclusive and culturally safe. Intake appointments are usually by phone.
Some services have a fee that is based on a sliding scale. Your first call is a free intake appointment to discuss the service that is right for you, and the potential cost.
We will start by asking you some questions to help us match you to the best service and counsellor for your needs. This is an intake appointment by phone, but may be virtually or in person. You can chose between virtual or in person counselling appointments based on your preference and comfort level.
